Marie Campbell, Podiatrist
Marie completed a Bachelor of Podiatry at the University of South Australia in 2006 and is passionate about her work, not only does she enjoy being able to work with a wide range of people she also enjoys the challenge of assisting her patients on a daily basis. She is originally from Adelaide and has recently settled in her partner's home town of Wagga Wagga.
Marie has a keen interest in sport, she has a long history of involvement with high level netball, representing the state at 16 years old and then going on to play State League (now Premier League) netball for Garville Netball Club in SA. Since retiring from playing at this level Marie continues her involvement through an assistant coaching role for the Premier League Reserves side.
As a result of her netball career Marie is no stranger to sporting injuries. She has endured her own injuries and from this developed an interest in how to better treat, manage and prevent such injuries from occurring and recurring “Also, while coaching I've been known to provide the odd court-side treatment to my players when required. I am grateful for my long history of netball involvement (despite the injuries), as it has given me a great insight into the many aspects of competing as a high level athlete - the psychology, training, discipline, importance of nutrition - all of which filters into my treatment approach as a podiatrist.” Marie says.
Marie has also worked in high risk hospitals dealing with diabetes and amputations. She says working as a podiatrist is gratifying because she is able to contribute to someone else's quality of life. "Ultimately, that is what we aim to do as clinicians. The goal may be to help prevent an amputation in a 'high risk' diabetic foot, or, to keep an athlete competing at their desired level of sport. I enjoy getting to know what the specific goal of each client is, and then formulating an holistic plan in line with their lifestyle to reach their goals.” Marie says.
