Children’s Feet
A child’s foot is not simply a mini version of our adult feet. Rather it is a complex structure of bones, ligaments and muscles under rapid development.
The bones and joints in a child’s foot continue to develop rapidly after they are born, and are not fully matured until young adulthood. The feet of young children are soft and pliable and prone to a number of different problems. If your child suffers from any of the following we do recommend an assessment by one of our podiatrists:
Gait (walking abnormalities) eg. Pigeon toes
Growing pains in the feet, knees and legs (growing pains are not always considered normal and we advise that they be assessed by a podiatrist as they can generally be treated)
Sports injuries and pain during and after sport
Uneven shoe wear.
Lumps or bumps in the feet, knees or legs.
Pain or aching in the feet, knees or legs.
Tripping and falling occurs.
Family history of foot problems
Limping/growing pains
Our podiatrists at the Active Foot Clinic have a keen interest in management and prevention of children’s foot problems.
