Knee Pain

Do you suffer with knee pain? Concerned about arthritis?

Podiatrists regularly treat knee pain, as your walking pattern and foot posture influence the movements which occur within your knee.

A good way to show how your foot posture can be related to knee pain is to stand up and place your finger on your knee cap. Flatten your arch then heighten your arch. You will see that your knee cap (and finger) rotate substantially. This rotation can stop the knee cap from tracking and gliding smoothly, resulting in grinding and clicking, pain and eventually arthritis. High arched feet and flat feet also place different pressures deep inside the knee joint causing pain and inflammation due to uneven wear in the joint. This uneven wear can result in arthritis.

Our podiatrists at the Active Foot Clinic have the expertise to treat conditions of the knee when they are related to poor foot function. By balancing the foot posture good knee function preserved and often a reduction in pain occurs.

At your appointment your podiatrist will take a thorough history, assesses your joints and muscles, assesses your posture and walking pattern and advises you on appropriate treatment with the goal of keeping you active for life. If you or someone you know suffers with knee pain book an appointment with one of our podiatrists
